Another day, another picket line.

As the Class War intensifies across our island, Dorset IWW members have supported rail and telecomm’s pickets in Bognor, Bournemouth, Dorchester, Poole, and Weymouth, alongside members of many other unions and none.

The RMT and CWU are striking for us all and will soon be joined by a broad section of the Working Class.

It is no longer a matter of which union you belong to or the specific industry in which you are exploited. We must stand by our Class, right or wrong and bring down this venal, corrupt regime that offers us nothing but destitution, war and environmental catastrophe.

Attitudes to the political/boss class are hardening, the failure of the Corbyn experiment at last signalled the death of possiblism, We really don’t have time to wait for a hypothetical social-democratic government, so let’s seize the moment and get on the streets!

Transphobia and the Bookfair – a clarification.

Anarchy in the Sticks!

It should be blindingly obvious to everyone by now that we are a trans-inclusive event. The collective has many transgender and non-binary comrades and they are welcome at the Bookfair.

We are mostly class-struggle anarchists and libertarian socialists, therefore anyone campaigning for the state to constrain transgender – or any other – people against their will, or to coerce them into prescribed paths and patterns of behaviour, would not be welcome.

We don’t see any need of exclusive facilities for cis-people, precisely because cis-people are the hegemonic group. For the same reason we don’t need white history month, straight pride month, international men’s day or exclusive clubs for gentiles. If attendees advocated for such things you would expect us to show them the door.

We should all beware of imposing our pet theories on other people’s lived experiences. You’re welcome to your ‘nuances’ (whatever that means) but don’t come around telling anyone they’re deluded or faking it. Please do not bring ‘gender-critical’ or ‘sex-essentialist’ propaganda to the Bookfair.

Cynical Commissioning Group: tell ’em to back out!

The public consultation on Dorset’s Clinical Services Review is underway. The proposed cuts will devastate our healthcare. In short, 25% fewer hospital beds, 50% fewer G.P. surgeries, parts of the county left without accessible emergency trauma, paediatric or maternity services

Here’s their survey: the questions are deliberately leading, and vague.

If they get a positive response they will take it as carte blanche to do whatever they like. We therefore ask you to “strongly disagree” with everything, and where you choose “Another option”, demand that services are retained as they are and properly funded. We already have the lowest per capita spending on health services in the industrialised world

Dorset Wobs at March for Wards Dorchester 17/09/16

Save Kingfisher & SCBU: Mass march for wards, Dorchester 12th December.

On the 12th December people will take to the streets of Dorchester en masse for the second time this year to defend paediatric and maternity services at Dorset County Hospital. This is part of the continuing resistance to long-term plans to degrade health facilities in West Dorset, privatise, sub-contract and/or transfer them Eastward to the conurbation of Bournemouth/Poole. We hear sympathetic noises from politicians but as we all know they speak with forked tongues.

If you take a look at the county of Dorset, you can see it is roughly diamond-shaped, and Dorchester is bang in the centre; where else would you put the county hospital? Public transport in West Dorset is sparse to pitiful, and many regular users of children’s services struggle to get to Dorchester, let alone Poole – an hour away by car (or ambulance) from most communities. Imagine caring for a chronically ill or disabled child in the Winterbourne valley, where there are only two buses a day. This is simply a matter of life and death.

If you are able to get to Dorchester on the day, please support us, we need everybody out on the streets, bring your banners, flags, etc, for a family friendly, carnival atmosphere!
