This is the resolution of the workers of VIOME, to which we have added our name.

You can sign the resolution below by returning your details (name, organisation, location) to, or even better, hand it in to the nearest Greek embassy or consulate demanding that it is transferred to the Greek Ministry of Labour. We welcome any international acts of solidarity, especially ones that involve non-violent direct action towards Greek embassies worldwide.

After being abandoned by the employers, the Factory of VIOME has been operating for nearly 3 years under workers’ control, through self-management by the workers’ assembly. Today, it constitutes an internationally emblematic struggle, which demonstrates that the real response to the crisis that leaves millions in poverty and unemployment is  workers’ emancipation and a productive reconstruction based on society´s initiative and creativity.

The workers of VIOME, through the production of natural cleaning products in the premises of the occupied Factory, have proposed a new mode of production that responds to the needs of society, against exploitative labour relations and the drive for endless accumulation of capital.

Unfortunately, despite the promises of a series of governments to legitimise this important example of workers’ self-management, the workers of VIOME are now facing legal procedures that could lead to the liquidation of the factory premises and could threaten the continuation of the factory’s production.

We, the undersigned collectives and individuals, support the struggle of the workers of VIOME for employment, dignity and freedom against the judicial system that blindly serves the interests of the powerful.

We stand by their side in their decision to defend their productive endeavour by any means possible.

We warn the Greek authorities and the powerful business interests that oppose the VIOME struggle that an attack on VIOME is an attack on us all.

We demand that the Greek government stops the auction of the VIOME premises and that it offers a definitive solution by expropriating the land and granting it to the workers, on the condition that the factory keep operating under workers’ control and horizontal decision making.

We state clearly that we will not allow anyone to grab the factory from its legitimate owners, that is, the workers and the wider community. We will support this struggle in every step along the way.

The workers of VIOME will prevail, since they fight for the just cause of dignity and self-determination!

IWW Greece Announcement Regarding The Referendum.

145x141xGreece.png.pagespeed.ic.r1WGZWJN-PDo the times hold dilemmas?

The appeal to the referendum by “for the first time” Left government was the natural outcome of a futile political negotiation which aimed “to have its cake (capital) and eat it too” (to satisfy both its needs and those of institutions). To be sure, this frame of negotiations took place without the real subject that shall pay the cost of remaining in Europe, whether in Euro or drachma, that is the working class, the unemployed, the precarious workers, the immigrants and the pensioners. The point is that, despite the Left tone of dignity that the Left governmental administrators use, this is a one-way blackmail. We need a radical change of shift, not in words but in action.

In today’s circumstance, the workers have one and only choice. We have to stand out, with all our strength, against the big interests, which gradually sink the workers to abjection. The future will be dark, and people shall suffer privations, if we do not fight back these adverse predictions. We have only one hope to in order to prevent this tidal wave of misery and evils. This hope, this tool, is solidarity. Every worker must support the interest of his/her class, no matter where he/she lives in the world or where he/she comes from, no matter if he/she is male/female, young or aged. What is important is that we stay united. Every loss for a worker is loss for all of us and every gain for a part of the working class is a victory for all.

The government serves and shall always serve the interests of the ruling class. We believe that the government is bound to act in this way, especially now, that the workers have started to claim their rights. Although the government sometimes gives a benefit as a bait, in order to confuse our judgment and eliminate our decisiveness, it is certain that what we shall get is the brutality and the authoritarian oppression by the security forces and a cell in jail. Direct action, along with solidarity, are the key to success.

The only tactic of fight and resistance that we can trust is what we have already put under our own control and tried in action. In order to defend ourselves we must firstly defend the working class as a whole, united like a fist.

Therefore, there are no dilemmas. “The working class and the employing class have nothing in common”. This is written in the preamble of the constitution of I.W.W.! The same goes when we entrust ourselves to the state, the governments and authority in general, whatever its origins. This is one obvious truth dictated by logic, and it would be against our interest to ignore it.

We can make it! Education, Organization, Emancipation. These are the three goals written on the three stars of I.W.W.’s emblem. Educating, ourselves first of all, and our co-workers. Organizing ourselves and our co-workers too. Emancipating our class, in conflict, in war and emancipating the Earth that feeds and bears us.

Capitalism cannot improve –It must be overcome. The same goes for all governments.

IWW Greece: International Call for Revolutionary Solidarity with the Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike

a4KNSx0uAt the present moment, the imprisoned anarchists, members of DAK (Network of imprisoned social fighters), A. Stampoulos, A. Theofilou, G. Karagianidis, D. Politis, F. Charisis, A. Dalios, D. Mpourzoukos, G. Sarafoudis, G. Michailidis, the members of the “Revolutionary Struggle” N. Maziotis and K. Gournas, the member of “17th of November” D. Koufontinas, a number of Turkish political prisoners and the prisoners G. Sofianidis and M. S. Eltsibach, are on a hunger strike, fighting against the repressive legal state of exception which has been established by the Greek state since the beginning of 2000.

Starting on March 2nd, along with the comrades outside the prison walls, we commenced a struggle for the abolition of type C high security prisons, the abolition of “antiterrorist” law, the abolition of the “hoodlaw”, the radical change in the process of taking and identification of DNA samples, the release of the seriously sick member of 17N S. Ksiros.

The struggle for the fulfillment of these demands is a struggle against the core of the state of emergency. It is a struggle against the core of the new totalitarianism which has been enforced by the state of Greece, as well as by the rest of the states globally. Recognizing the fact that the nexus of dominance’s designs transcends the narrow geographic borders of national states, we call all Fellow Workers to support this fight and to act in solidarity on the 1st of April, sending a message of revolutionary unity.

The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) in Greece support the demands of political detainees that went on hunger strike since 2nd of March. We call FW’s throught the world to express their solidarity to the hunger strikers on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1st, 2015.

Solidarity forever!
