  • Gaia’s family believe she died due to failings by police and mental health services following an incident of rape.

Wednesday 19 May: inquest proceedings into the death of 19-year-old Gaia Pope from Swanage resumed today with a Pre-Inquest Review hearing at Bournemouth Town Hall. Senior coroner for Dorset Rachael Griffin has confirmed that she will now be instructing two independent medical experts to provide opinions regarding the adequacy of the epilepsy care Gaia received as well as another expert to comment on the sufficiency of this care in light of Gaia’s mental health difficulties.

TERFs: You are being conned


A lot has been written on the relationship between TERFs, the broader Gender Critical (GC) movement and the right. There is increasingly obvious evidence of considerable practical collaboration and ideological crossover between ostensibly “feminist” transphobes and open fascists and religious fundamentalists. A great deal of money raised by GC causes has been raised under the banner of feminism and ended in the pockets of an anti-choice, anti-feminist activist solicitor. In this piece I want to focus on a particular example of GC/right-wing cooperation and the dynamic it exemplifies.
